A day trip to Cambridge

🌎 1h 10m from London

🚗 Car

Train from Kings Cross station

⭐ 4/5 day trip

Cambridge is home to the oldest and highest ranking university in the world and just a casual 25,000 university students.

I did a day trip from London with a friend and it was trés cute...

My top tips to make the most out of your day

Let's get the elephant out of the room first up,

Kings College Chapel

Price: £13.50

Kings College chapel is labelled the most iconic and recognisable buildings in Cambridge.

When we arrived there were queues everywhere and we did really consider if it was worth it to go inside, but oh my frickin god, it was absolutely stunning. Even the gardens were beautiful to see

✨ Oxford botanical gardens

Rose Ln, Oxford OX1 4AZ

This was an incredibly cute garden, there is a cafe and its lovely to walk through all of the different gardens including multiple greenhouses. They also have a little plant shop and it is nearby where the Oxtube stops. Entry is only 6£.

✨ Bodleian library & Radcliffe camera

Broad St, Oxford OX1 3BG

For all my book babes, there are over 13 million printed items although it's not as accessible as a Foyles. I unfortunately didn't book online and arrived to find that they had stopped taking admissions for the rest of the day but the courtyard with free access to all was beautiful. The radcliffe camera opposite is just as pretty to look at, it is only open to university students or guided tour as it's a working library.

✨ Carfax Towers

Queen St, Oxford OX1 1ET

For panoramic vistas you are going to have to pay your £3 & climb your way up the 99 steps to the top of the tower, Unpopular opinion? I think that if you have done the tower at Cambridge you could probably give this one a skip.

✨ Go punting down the river

High St, Oxford OX1 4AU

What a magical way to explore the city than away from people & by water. You can hire your own for the day, or a guided tour for an hour. No booking needed Monday - Friday - a surprisingly great workout !
