A day trip to Oxford

Get your HP nerd on or try & find an otherworldly escape like Alice

🌎 2h from London

🚗 Car

or

Oxford tube bus from Victoria station

⭐ 4/5 day trip

Did you grow up waiting impatiently on your letter from Hogwarts?

Get jealous that Alice got to escape into another world for just a little while?

Well Oxford is the place for you...

I thought Oxford was positively precious, it gave Eastern European village vibes but has a really young population thanks to the 30+ colleges. It's a really short journey from London by Oxtube, the bus conveniently leaves every 15 minutes and runs 24 hours so you can party with the college students and still get back in time for Sunday brunch.  #win

I highly suggest it as a day trip based on what there is to do & how convenient it is to get to.

My top tips to make the most out of your day

Let's get the elephant out of the room first up,

✨ Christ Church College

Where?

St Aldate's, Oxford OX1 1DP

Home to some of the most iconic HP scenes, the staircase and the dining hall being the most notable - it's a must see for any hermoine or ron wanna be's. They have a self-guided audio tour that you have to purchase to enter its £15 and goes over the history of Christ Church, the HP relevance and then some other facts which I skipped 🤣...

✨ Oxford botanical gardens

Where?

Rose Ln, Oxford OX1 4AZ

This was an incredibly cute garden, there is a cafe and its lovely to walk through all of the different gardens including multiple greenhouses. They also have a little plant shop and it is nearby where the Oxtube stops. Entry is only 6£.

✨ Bodleian library & Radcliffe camera

Where?

Broad St, Oxford OX1 3BG

For all my book babes, there are over 13 million printed items although it's not as accessible as a Foyles. I unfortunately didn't book online and arrived to find that they had stopped taking admissions for the rest of the day but the courtyard with free access to all was beautiful. The radcliffe camera opposite is just as pretty to look at, it is only open to university students or guided tour as it's a working library.

✨ Carfax Towers

Where?

Queen St, Oxford OX1 1ET

For panoramic vistas you are going to have to pay your £3 & climb your way up the 99 steps to the top of the tower, Unpopular opinion? I think that if you have done the tower at Cambridge you could probably give this one a skip.

✨ Go punting down the river

Where?

High St, Oxford OX1 4AU

What a magical way to explore the city than away from people & by water. You can hire your own for the day, or a guided tour for an hour. No booking needed Monday - Friday - a surprisingly great workout !
