Where to cool off in the middle of the desert

There are hundreds of hotels in Dubai and a large number of them capitalise on having multi million dirham pools readily available.

One of the privileges of being a woman living in Dubai was access to pool days for free! You bet financially savvy me was poolside, book in hand catching the winter rays - please for the love of everything don't do this in the summer!

Some websites I suggest that always put out lists of the new, best pool days are these.

  • Time out Dubai. here

  • Whats on Dubai. here

  • Emirates Woman. here

Some pools are rooftop, some do a f&b credit but this is a selection of my favourites.

Sofitel Dubai the Obelisk

📍here

Sofitel does do a pretty good deal on pool days, and the pool is shaped like the key of life so thats pretty fun too.

They do a really good f&b offering, some of which is redeemable in the ticket. To finish off the day I would suggest cocktails and the nine burger downstairs or dinner at taiko (both of these have dress codes though!)

Paramount hotel

📍here

Malibu deck became an easy favourite after visiting the first time.

It's located on a faux rooftop but it's set in palms and 3 million day beds.

The food and drinks are absolutely nothing to write home about but the DJ plays fun music and it's a swim up bar.

There is no access with the metro (it's about a 40min walk from Business bay so a taxi is needed).

The Address Skyview

📍here

Deck too has a stunning view that will leave you captivated for sure.

Not a huge range of day beds on offer but they have a really shallow area to lie down in whilst you gawk at the Burj Khalifa.

Prices:

7 days: 200 aed with a minimum spend of 150 aed.

The Address Dubai Marina

📍here

Wane by Somiya is the home to all of the pretty British girls in Dubai.

I went to check out their ladies day because I could get in for free but it was certainly an un-warm place, I would suggest tackling it with friends by your side.

They have a different deal each day but complimentary pool access is on Monday & Tuesday.

Barasti

📍here

Everyone loves to hate on Barasti but I think it's a great free day out! It's on the edge of the Marina at Mina Seyahi.

They have the pool and the beach but they also host events almost every night.

Bla Bla

📍here

Bla Bla was fairly new when I was there so I never made it but oh .. my .. god my Instagram blew up with photos from people going there. It does a great ladies day on a Tuesday including free flowing wines.

La Ville hotel

📍here

La Ville is part of the city walk suites. It was such a nice and relaxing pool day, there was no huge party scene it was just people relaxing in the sun and enjoying the rooftop pool.

The food was delicious but like most pool days in Dubai the drinks are pretty weak.

Prices:

200 aed with 100 in f&b redeemable credit

Palazzo Versace

📍here

Easily the boujiest pool day I have ever done but wow it was good fun!

Like the others they do a partially redeemable f&b credit but there's also at least 15 pool floaties to laze upon whilst staying cool by being in the water.

Prices:

Ladies 100 aed

Guys 200 aed
