Updated: Sep 27, 2023

1.5 billion people are now freelancers which is about ~50% of the global workforce, if you want to join them it may be time to up-skill to include things that can allow for freelance or location independent work. Here is a list of ideas to get you started.

Benefits to a digital nomad lifestyle

  • True freedom. Freelance or online work can be done anywhere in the world.

  • Meeting new people who are in your situation, who might be further ahead in the role that you can bounce ideas off.

  • Slow travel allows you to be immersed in a culture as opposed to seeing the highlights and then hopping to the next location.

Challenges to a digital nomad lifestyle

  • Arriving to a new location and wanting to go out and see all of the tourist hotspots immediately, but remembering that the clients have deliverables that need attention.

  • crazy timezones depending where the clients are based could mean meetings early morning or late night.

  • Loneliness and missing out on life at home, the friendships that you make on the road aren't always as close and can be fleeting.
